Synopsys adds generative AI for chip development with Synopsys.ai Copilot design software

Synopsys has integrated generative AI capabilities into its EDA suite to enhance chip development, introducing Synopsys.ai Copilot with Assistive and Creative tools to speed up processes. The Assistive features streamline tasks, reduce reliance on experts, and offer real-time technical guidance, improving engineer productivity. Creative tools automatically generate design content like RTL code and assertions, aiming to accelerate development cycles. While these tools significantly speed up verification processes, human oversight is still required. Synopsys is also collaborating with Microsoft on AgentEngineer, an AI system to automate engineering flows, but human engineers will continue to play a crucial role in architecture and microarchitecture design due to their ability to consider broader industry perspectives.
