Gigabyte has unveiled the AI Top CXL R5X4 expansion card, designed for TRX50 and W790 workstation motherboards, allowing users to add up to 512GB of extra DDR5 memory via four memory slots. The card fits into a standard PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and features active cooling with an AIO fan and a full-metal thermal design. It supports RDIMMs and customizable memory configurations, unlike fixed-memory CXL solutions. The card communicates using the CXL 2.0/1.1 protocol and requires a motherboard with AMD TRX50 or Intel W790 chipset support. Pricing and availability details for the AI Top CXL R5X4 have not been disclosed by Gigabyte yet.
