London-based chip startup Fractile is in early talks with Anthropic about potentially selling its inference accelerators, which utilize SRAM architecture to reduce the need for expensive memory during times of extreme pricing and shortages. Fractile's chips are not expected to be ready for commercial use until around 2027. The company, founded in 2022, aims to enhance AI model performance by co-locating memory and compute on the same die. Fractile has raised significant funding and is in discussions to raise more capital. Anthropic, known for diversifying its chip sources, is considering adding Fractile to its lineup of AI server silicon providers alongside Nvidia, Google, and Amazon.
