A Fusion-Reactor-Inspired Thruster Could Deorbit Space Junk
A new solution inspired by fusion reactors aims to deorbit space junk and mitigate the risks of Kessler Syndrome. The proposed method involves using a magnetic-nozzle radio-frequency plasma thruster to eject plasma plumes in opposite directions, exerting a deceleration force on debris while maintaining zero net thrust on the thruster. This innovative approach could help address the growing issue of space debris and its potential hazards in orbit.
