Intel buys back 49% stake in Ireland Fab Joint Venture — takes full control over Fab 34
Intel has repurchased a 49% stake in the Ireland Fab 34 joint venture it sold in 2024, gaining full control over the fab. The buyback will be financed using cash reserves and new debt issuance, positively impacting Intel's margins and earnings per share. The deal is expected to improve Intel's credit ratings and eliminate the need to pay margins to Apollo for wafers from Fab 32. Apollo will receive a $3 billion premium over the original transaction, marking a mutually beneficial agreement between the two companies.
