Der8auer rigs up exotic spray cooling for Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but don't get excited just yet — supercomputer cooling method underperforms due to partial IHS coverage

Famous overclocker Der8auer demonstrated spray cooling on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, a method used in some supercomputers. Despite partial coverage of the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS), the spray cooling system successfully cooled the chip, though not as effectively as traditional coolers. The system achieved 18,164 points in a Cinebench R23 test at around 95C, compared to the normal 23,000 points with a standard cooler. While spray cooling has potential, full IHS coverage and proper tuning are crucial for optimal results, with vapor cooling being a highly effective cooling solution for CPUs.
