Researchers at a German university have created the world's smallest pixel, measuring just 300 nanometers across, using a new form of organic LED technology. This breakthrough could lead to the development of ultra-compact displays, potentially enabling a 1080p screen that is only 1mm in size. The new nanometer-scale OLEDs are more than 10 times smaller than current micro OLEDs, offering brighter and more detailed displays for applications like augmented reality headsets and smart glasses. However, challenges remain in increasing color gamut and efficiency, as well as ensuring long-lasting operation of these nano-scale OLEDs.
