The Download: three-person babies, and tracking “AI readiness” in the US
Researchers in the UK have successfully used a technology called mitochondrial donation to create eight babies born from a trial of three-person IVF. The babies were born to mothers at risk of passing on severe mitochondrial diseases. Meanwhile, a new interactive report by the Brookings Institution explores the impact of AI on jobs and communities in the US through four charts. The report aims to help policymakers and workers understand and adapt to the changes brought by AI technology.
