EVs, HEVs to Offer Passenger-Powered Battery-Charging Subsystem
A startup company draws inspiration from "The Flintstones" to develop a pedal-based charging system for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs). Passengers can use modified elliptical foot exercise machines to generate power while the vehicle is in motion, extending the driving range. The system allows for exercise, reduces leg fatigue, and can provide power for autonomous vehicles. The company aims to have a prototype on the road by early 2027, pending regulatory approvals and licensing agreements.
