Wipers from Russia’s most cut-throat hackers rain destruction on Ukraine
Russian hacking group Sandworm, known for its ruthless cyberattacks, targeted Ukraine with destructive wipers aimed at destroying sensitive data and infrastructure. The group attacked a Ukrainian university in April with wipers named Sting and Zerlot, and later targeted critical infrastructure including government, energy, logistics, and even Ukraine's grain industry. Wipers have been a preferred tool for Russian hackers since 2012, as seen with the NotPetya worm that caused global chaos and billions in financial damages.
