Skuld Sells First Lightning Metal Machine to University of Tennessee
Skuld LLC has made its first commercial sale of a Lightning Metal machine to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The machine utilizes the Additive Manufacturing Evaporative Casting (AMEC) technique, offering a low-cost method for producing metal parts at scale using materials like aluminum, brass, and copper. This process, which includes lost foam casting, could be faster and cheaper than traditional methods like sand casting, reducing post-processing time and cost. The University of Tennessee's strong ties with the military, particularly the U.S. Army, make it an ideal partner for exploring the potential of this innovative casting technology for alloy research and workforce development.
