Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5 matches May’s frontier model at fraction of cost

Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 4.5, a small AI language model that matches the performance of its previous model, Claude Sonnet 4, at a fraction of the cost and more than double the speed. The new model is now available to all Claude users. By utilizing distillation techniques, Anthropic has been able to create smaller AI models that can perform coding tasks as effectively as larger models, albeit with less stored knowledge. While Haiku is ideal for quick coding assistance, Sonnet and Opus are better suited for deeper analyses due to their larger neural networks and contextual knowledge.
