Boom, known for its supersonic airliner project, has unveiled the Superpower turbine, repurposing aircraft engine tech to power AI data centers. The turbine boasts 42 MW output with 39% efficiency, optimized for AI data centers, and operates at high temperatures without water cooling. Boom has received a significant order from Crusoe AI for 1.21 GW of turbines, with plans to deliver up to 2 GW by 2029. The project aims to test the turbine technology in AI data centers, potentially funding Boom's supersonic flight program.
