Sandisk's rebranded Optimus SSDs now available at eye-watering $999 for 2TB, $1,799 for 4TB — Optimus brings a 5% MSRP over previous models, but WD Black predecessors can still be found for less

Sandisk has rebranded its Optimus GX Pro 8100 series SSDs, with prices starting at $499 for the 1TB model. The new lineup comes with slightly higher price tags than its predecessors, with the 2TB model priced at $999 and the 4TB model at $1,799. Amazon is selling these SSDs at even higher prices, up to 9% more expensive than Sandisk's online store. The rebranded Optimus drives offer the same performance as the original models, but customers can still find the older WD Black SSDs for less until inventory depletes. Industry projections suggest that SSD prices may continue to rise in the near future.
