Sandisk’s new Optimus SSD line-up replaces retired WD color-based models — new Optimus, GX, and GX Pro tiers for 2026

Sandisk has introduced a new line-up of SSDs, replacing the retired WD color-coded models with the Optimus series, including Optimus, GX, and GX Pro tiers. These SSDs are designed for gamers, creators, and professionals, offering different performance levels. The Optimus line-up revives a brand with a history dating back to 2013 when Sandisk acquired SMART Storage Systems. The new SSDs come with revamped packaging and designs, aiming to stand out in the market. The latest addition, the Optimus GX 7100M, is a compact M.2 2230 drive with impressive sequential read and write speeds, catering to handheld gaming devices and lightweight laptops. These new Sandisk Optimus SSDs will be available at select retailers in early 2026.
