SAE International Celebrates its 10th Anniversary of AM Aerospace Standards

SAE International marks the 10th anniversary of its additive manufacturing aerospace standards, reflecting on progress and challenges. The organization's AMS AM committee, established in response to an FAA tasking letter in 2015, has over 600 members from 27 countries. The committee focuses on material and process specifications for metals, non-metals, and repairs, with 43 published documents and 60 more in progress. Collaboration with industry stakeholders, including airlines and aerospace OEMs, aims to address emerging issues in additive manufacturing for aerospace applications. The organization emphasizes the importance of consensus standards in ensuring aircraft quality, safety, and efficiency.
