Researchers from various universities have made significant advancements in tech research. At Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), a self-supervised learning approach was used to build a foundation model for automated analog circuit layout, achieving high design-rule checking and layout versus schematic verification rates. At the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), a carbon nanotube "sandpaper" was developed for semiconductor planarization, reducing defects and waste compared to conventional methods. Additionally, researchers at Stanford University created a low-power optical amplifier that recycles energy to achieve high amplification, potentially enabling its use in smartphones for various applications like data communications and biosensing.
