Moore Threads, a Chinese competitor to Nvidia, has launched the "MTT AI Book," a laptop featuring a custom 12-core Arm chip called the "MT1000" CPU. This chip, part of the "Yangtze" SoC, offers 12 CPU cores clocked at 2.65 GHz and an NPU capable of 50 TOPS of AI compute. The laptop can run Windows alongside its Linux-based operating system and is priced at 9,999 CNY (approximately $1,447 USD). While the performance of the Arm-based SoC is currently underwhelming based on Geekbench scores, there is potential for improvement with driver and firmware optimizations.
