Intel axes 12th Gen Alder Lake and 4th Gen Xeon Sapphire Rapids — final orders for Intel's first hybrid CPUs end in just a few months

Intel is discontinuing its 12th Generation Alder Lake and 4th Generation Xeon Sapphire Rapids processors, marking the end of these product lines. The move comes as Intel prepares for newer offerings like the Arrow Lake Refresh. Retailers have until July 2026 to place final orders for Alder Lake processors, with the last shipment scheduled for January 2027. Sapphire Rapids Scalable server-focused variants are also being retired, with final shipments set for March 2028. Both Alder Lake and Sapphire Rapids were significant for introducing Intel's hybrid architecture in consumer and data center markets, respectively.
