Intel admits it needs more Core Ultra 200-series wafers — 'If we had more Lunar Lake wafers, we would be selling more Lunar Lake'

Intel is facing supply constraints for its client and data center processors, citing a need for more Core Ultra 200-series Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake wafers to meet demand. The company outsources chiplet production to TSMC, leading to insufficient capacity to fulfill orders. While Intel expects supply growth for Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake in the fourth quarter, it may not be sufficient to clear the backlog. Despite investing in advanced equipment, Intel's production capacity on 10nm-class processes is limited, impacting the availability of Xeon 6 'Granite Rapids' processors. The company has reallocated resources to prioritize production of these processors.
