Injured Goat Zelda to Get 3D Printed Prosthetic Thanks to Student Rescue

Abby Butcher, a Lake Erie College student, rescued a goat named Zelda with severe leg injuries and is now working on designing and 3D printing a custom prosthetic leg for her at the college's Makerspace. Zelda, who came to Homestead Farm's Rescue with significant trauma, underwent amputation surgery and is now on the path to recovery with the help of the prosthetic. Abby's project with Zelda is not only aiding the goat but also shaping her career path towards agricultural law, showcasing the potential of technology in animal welfare. The prosthetic design is still in progress, with a fitting expected later this fall, demonstrating the impact of utilizing tech resources for innovative solutions in animal care.
