I uninstalled Windows 11’s WhatsApp WebView2 and replaced it with the old native app with a new trick

WhatsApp on Windows 11 switched to a Chromium-based WebView2, leading to high RAM usage. Users can revert to the old native app by downloading an older version of WhatsApp from November 2025. The workaround involves enabling Developer Mode, extracting files, and registering the old version. The old WhatsApp consumes significantly less memory compared to the new version, making it appealing to users. However, this solution may only be temporary as Meta could phase out the old app eventually.
