Germany summons Russian ambassador over GRU-linked cyberattacks — air traffic control and elections systems targeted

Germany has summoned Russia's ambassador over cyberattacks linked to the GRU military intelligence agency, including incidents targeting air traffic control systems and election interference. The cyberattack on Germany's air traffic control was attributed to APT28, also known as Fancy Bear, a group associated with the GRU. The interference in Germany's federal election was part of an operation called "Storm-1516" involving disinformation and sabotage. Germany, along with European partners, plans to impose countermeasures such as sanctions and asset freezes in response to these actions.
