Micron has launched the first mass-produced PCIe 6.0 SSD, the Micron 9650 series, boasting read speeds of up to 28 GB/s and 5.5 million IOPS. The SSD supports both air and liquid cooling, with different models offering capacities ranging from 6.4TB to 30.72TB. The drive is optimized for AI and data center applications, offering improved write speeds and random read speeds compared to PCIe Gen 5 SSDs. Despite the enhanced performance, power consumption remains comparable to PCIe 5.0 SSDs, making it a promising option for AI servers.
