Developer David Noel Ng took a gamble on an "obviously fake" Nvidia Grace-Hopper system being sold on Reddit and scored $80,000 worth of hardware for just a tenth of the cost. The system included 960GB of DDR5 RAM, which alone is now worth more than what Ng paid for the entire rig. Despite some initial issues with the system, Ng managed to clean and refurbish it, unlocking its impressive specs like 2x Nvidia Grace-Hopper Superchip and 2x Nvidia Hopper H100 Tensor Core GPU. Ng is now able to run advanced AI models at home for a fraction of the cost, with the added bonus of the system's value skyrocketing due to increasing memory prices.
