Broadcom’s prohibitive VMware prices create a learning “barrier,” IT pro says

During the pandemic, many school districts turned to VMware for distance learning solutions, but the platform now under Broadcom ownership comes with higher prices that pose challenges for educational IT departments with limited budgets. An IT director from an Indiana school district highlighted the impact of these pricing changes on their curriculum and operations. The district, with five schools and 3,000 students, adopted VMware's vSAN and vSphere in 2019, bundled with VxRail HCI hardware. The shift in pricing strategy by Broadcom has made it difficult for schools to manage technology costs while meeting students' needs.
