Botnet smashes DDoS traffic record, equivalent to streaming 2.2 million Netflix 4K movies at once — 31.4 Tb/s attack was large enough to take entire countries offline

A botnet known as Aisuru-Kimwolf set a new DDoS attack record, reaching 31.4 Tb/s in December, equivalent to streaming 2.2 million Netflix 4K movies simultaneously. This massive attack could potentially take down entire countries or internet service providers. Cloudflare described it as an "unprecedented bombardment" that targeted its customers and infrastructure. The botnet operators sell access to cybercriminals, enabling them to spread malware or conduct malicious activities. The botnet primarily consists of IoT devices and Android-based devices, with most of its minions located in the U.S., Brazil, India, and Saudi Arabia.
