Asus adds 64MB ROM to Strix Neo AM5 motherboards, following Gigabyte — capacity large enough to fit pre-installed Wi-Fi drivers

Asus has enhanced its latest AM5 motherboards with a 64MB ROM, double the capacity of previous models, to support future Ryzen CPU releases. The increased ROM size also allows for pre-installed Wi-Fi drivers on the new Strix Neo AM5 boards. These ROG-branded boards were showcased at CES 2026 and come with additional features like the Asus Q-Release system for easy GPU removal and optimizations for PCIe slots to accommodate multiple M.2 drives. Asus aims to avoid compatibility issues seen in the past by proactively increasing ROM capacity, providing headroom for future Ryzen releases.
