AMD's upcoming Ryzen AI Max+ 392 hot on the heels of 9800X3D in early benchmarks — New Strix Halo APU almost matches Ryzen 7 beast in multi-core performance

AMD introduced the Ryzen AI Max+ 392, a variant of the AI Max+ 395 with 12 CPU cores, at CES 2026. Early Geekbench results show the Strix Halo APU almost matching the performance of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in multi-core tests. The AI-focused Ryzen AI Max+ chips are designed for gaming and show impressive single-threaded performance. The Ryzen AI Max+ 392 features 12 cores, 24 threads, and 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units, with a boost clock of 5.0 GHz and a TDP of 45-120W. Availability for the new Strix Halo machines is expected in Q1 2026.
