AMD confirms its Radeon RX 5000, 6000 series cards are not receiving new features — latest patch puts cards in 'maintenance mode,' also disables USB-C functionality on RX 7900 series

AMD has confirmed that its Radeon RX 5000 and 6000 series cards will no longer receive new features, as the latest driver update places them in maintenance mode to focus on newer GPUs. The update, AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2, reserves new features for the RX 7000 and RX 9000 series. Additionally, the update disables USB-C functionality on the RX 7900 series cards. The release also brings support for DirectX 12 Work Graphs to the RX 9000 series and includes bug fixes for various games. Despite these changes, AMD assures continued security updates for the older cards.
