100W car amplifier hacked into a custom RTX 3080 heatsink — custom mod slashes GPU temps by 10°C and looks absolutely stunning

A Redditor, ComplexSupermarket89, transformed an old MSI RTX 3080 Ventus graphics card by repurposing a 100W car amplifier as a custom heatsink, reducing GPU temperatures by 10°C. The DIY project involved using Arctic MX-7 thermal paste, better thermal pads, and replacing the backplate with the custom heatsink. Additional modifications included building a custom fascia and fan shroud from scrap aluminum, as well as installing three 92mm Thermalright RGB fans. Despite the success in lowering temperatures, the creator plans to further enhance cooling by adding a recessed fan to the heatsink. The mod, while considered a bit extravagant for an older GPU, showcases a passion for customization and innovation in PC hardware.
